SYLLABUS


The course examines the field of videoart from both a theoretical and practical standpoint. The theoretical component of the course examines the history of videoart, as well as the work of important movements and pioneer artists who contributed to its evolution.

The course's practical component focuses on teaching the stages of creating a videoart project. It takes a practice-based, hands-on approach based on the creation of team videoart projects with one or more video channels. The students work on every phase of the project, including the design of the project, the pre-production, production and post-production of the videos, and the exhibition of the project. Throughout the practical component of the course, students become familiar with the required equipment and software.

 

The main thematic units of the course are the following:

1. Early twentieth-century cinematic pioneers and the beginnings of videoart.

2. The evolution of videoart during the twentieth century.

3. Contemporary videoart projects and installations.

4. Conceptualization and design of a videoart project.

5. Video pre-production (scripting and storyboarding).

6. Video direction and shooting.

7. Video editing and post-production.

8. Installation of videoart project in exhibition space.
