ACADEMIC CALENDAR

For both undergraduate and postgraduate studies the academic year at the NKUA begins on the1st of September, ends on the 31st of August. Each semester comprises at least thirteen (13) weeks of courses. Semester exams take place in January-February (for all courses of the fall semester) and June-July (for all courses of the spring semester). A third exam period (resit) is offered in September for the students that have failed on the previous exams periods of the academic year.

 

2026-2027 Academic Calendar Schedule

The academic year 2026-27 is divided into:

  • the fall semester (from October to mid January)
  • the fall semester exam period (from mid January to mid February)
  • the spring semester (from February to May)
  • the spring semester exam period (from mid June to early July) and
  • the re-sit examination period (September)

During the summer period of July only special undergraduate or intensive postgraduate programs run. For the rest of the students it’s a vacation period. During the summer period of August the Department is closed.

 

Fall semester period

  • Teaching Period: September 29, 2026 - January 8, 2027 (13 weeks)
  • Make-up Classes: January 11, 2027 - January 15, 2027
  • Examination Period: January 18, 2027 - February 12, 2027 (4 weeks)

Spring semester period

  • Teaching Period: February 15, 2027 - May 28, 2027 (13 weeks)
  • Make-up Classes: May 31, 2027 - June 4, 2027
  • Examination Period: June 7, 2027  - July 2, 2027 (4 weeks)

Re-sit examination period:  Wednesday  01/09/2027 - Tuesday 28/09/2027

  • October 28th,  2026  (National Holiday)                                               
  • November 17th 2026 (Holiday for Educational Institutions)                                            
  • December 24th, 2026-  January 6th, 2027  (Christmas holidays)                                      
  • February 21st, 2027 (Educational holiday, no courses or exams are held)                                         
  • March 15th, 2027 (Shrove Monday, moveable Holiday)                                              
  • March 25th,  2027  (National Holiday)                                                
  • April  26th- May 7th, 2027  (Easter Holidays)                           
  • May 1st   2027  (Labor Day)
  • June  21st, 2027  (Holy Spirit Day-moveable Holiday)   
  • Student Elections: The School will be closed on the election day and the day after.
