SYLLABUS


In this course, emphasis is placed on the way of understanding and interpreting cinema from various perspectives: historical, sociological, philosophical, etc. . In addition to the aesthetic criteria, multiple criteria for reading the cinematographic language are set within the course, such as analysis, composition, evaluation of form and content, the study of historical and social issues connected to the cinematographic narrative.

An introduction will be preceded by a review of film genres and their derivatives, in a critical light and in relation to the meaning of each film, as it emerges as a product of its time.

In the search for the interpretative method, the tools of cinematographic techniques and the special cinematographic language will be used. The systematic use of examples will act as a reinforcement of the theory's power,

  6. The importance of historical context in motion pictures
  7. Philosophical and ethical issues in cinema
  8. Violence and Social Implications of Cinema
  9. Practical exercise in the detection of meanings in selected cinematographic films
