It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. As Head , I am proud to be part of a vibrant community of scholars-professors-artists.
The Department of Digital Arts and Cinema (est. 2019) is one of the youngest within the oldest Higher Education Institutions founded in Greece, in 1837. The Department is in the vanguard in the field of the artistic, theoretical and technological expertise. The theoretical expertise and empirical research of our staff is recognised as having been at the forefront of of digital arts and cinema studies for the past decade. The Department of Digital Arts and Cinema offers a B.A. Honours Degree (4 years).
The Department is located at Evripos campus in the area of the ancient city of Chalkida, 80 klm from Athens. It offers courses to nearly 500 students and employs over 20 professorial staff members, tenured instructors, and associates from other academic institutions and organizations. International relations have been developed with other European academic institutions through the Erasmus/CIVIS student and Faculty exchange programs.
The Department’s courses are designed to provide students with a broad overview of developments in digital arts and cinema studies with detailed analysis of sectors and issues of their own choice. The staff profile fits the interdisciplinary profile of the courses, weaving together interartistic and interdisciplinary approaches, practices and techniques. Our alumni have gone on to further academic study and to employment in many fields, including, a wide range of local state and private organizations, and professions related to arts, digital arts and film/ television production.
